Libyan guards shut 4 oil fields

In an attempt to push for their demands, the Petroleum Facilities Guard shut down four oil fields in western Libya, The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Monday,
The NOC said oil production from the Sharara, al-Fil, Wafa and Hamada oil fields was suspended. The four fields produce more than 300,000 barrels per day.
“We cannot accept or turn a blind eye to these practices that cause suffering to citizens, and we cannot make these practices a means to politicize the livelihood of the Libyans,” said Mustafa Sanalla, head of the NOC.
Earlier on Monday, Alaa Al-Adham, a spokesman for the Petroleum Facilities Guard, told Anadolu Agency that the guard’s demands include “the disbursement of the field allowance, and the construction of a road from Zintan to the Hamada area, southwest of Tripoli.”
According to previous press statements by Libyan Oil Minister Mohamed Aoun, the country’s oil production has reached 1.2 million barrels per day.
