A delegation from the Hamas movement headed by Ismail Haniyeh arrived this morning in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.
The Mauritanian President expressed Mauritania’s adherence to the constants of the Palestinian cause and its support for the Palestinian people and their struggle at all stages, and praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and the achievements of the Battle of the Sword of Jerusalem.
For his part, the leader of the movement expressed his appreciation for the distinguished official and popular Mauritanian position, whether by rejecting normalization with the occupation or the Mauritanian diplomatic role in support of the cause, as well as the popular movements in the streets of Mauritania in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The head of the Political Bureau stressed Hamas’ adherence to unity and its readiness for any Mauritanian role that could contribute to achieving this, stressing at the same time the movement’s adherence to the option of resistance to protect and restore Palestinian sanctities and rights.
He pointed out the movement’s keenness to open up to all regional and international parties, reviewing the political situation and developments on the ground following the Battle of Seif al-Quds. The movement’s delegation put His Excellency the President in a picture of the humanitarian conditions that the Palestinians live in as a result of the occupation practices.
On Sunday, Haniyeh concluded a five-day visit to Rabat, at an official invitation from the Justice and Development Party, months after Morocco resumed relations with the Israeli occupation last December.
During his visit to Morocco, Haniyeh met government officials, leaders of political parties, and governmental and non-governmental bodies.
