On Tuesday, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said there were reliable accusations that Russia was targeting people in Ukraine and urged Moscow to cease the crisis, promising not to allow it escalate further.
“We have a responsibility to prevent the crisis from escalating and spreading beyond Ukraine,” Stoltenberg added. “We will defend and safeguard every inch of allied territory,” he continued.
Stoltenberg, speaking with Latvian President Egils Levits, said Russia’s incursion was creating unspeakable suffering and had a disastrous humanitarian impact.
