One killed in Czech cable car accident

A Czech cable car cabin became separated from its cable on Sunday in the country’s north, killing one passenger, while others were saved from another cabin, according to a rescue service official.

Two cabins, each manned by a member of staff, serve the 1,000-meter (3,300-foot) Jested mountain.

“On its way down, one cabin collapsed. There was one person inside who died as a result of their injuries “Michael Georgiev, a spokesman for the Czech government, informed Czech Television.

“Fortunately, the other cabin remained in its normal location; about 15 people were evacuated; they should be unharmed, only suffering from emotional shock,” he stated.
