Palestinisn Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, issued a statement in which it said that “Based on the directions of Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, the PA ambassador to Belarus is following up on the issue of Palestinian refugees 24 hours a day,”Wafa news agency reported.
The statement also said that the “Palestinian embassy is exerting much efforts to keep in contact with the Palestinians stranded in the buffer zone between Poland and Belarus.”
However, the statement pointed out that the exact number of stranded Palestinian refugees is not known.
“The refugees have tourist visas or study visas,” the statement said, noting that the embassy offers several services to the stranded refugees.
The Palestinian embassy in Belarus reported that a Palestinian woman from Aleppo died and it is working to arrange the return of her body to her family. It did not give details about the family’s current location.
On 17 November it was reported that a 44-year-old Palestinian refugee was arrested in the train station while on her way to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, along with a group of refugees. She was later found dead in mysterious circumstances. No further details were available. According to reports, the victim is from the Neirab refugee camp in Aleppo, northern Syria.
