Poland arrests suspected Russian spy: Statement

On Friday, Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) announced the arrest of a Spanish person of Russian descent on suspicion of participating in foreign intelligence activities.

The man, identified as a GRU spy, was apprehended in Przemysl, near Poland’s Ukrainian border, on the night of February 27-28, according to ABW.

According to the service, the individual carried out operations in Russia’s favor while posing as a journalist in Europe and elsewhere.

“He was going to go to Ukraine to continue his activity before his imprisonment,” it claimed.

According to the agency, the individual will be held in detention for three months and faces up to ten years in prison if found guilty.
