Poland is prepared to send all of its MIG-29 fighter airplanes to Rammstein Air Base in Germany and place them at the disposal of the United States, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
Following a request from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday, US legislators pressed President Joe Biden’s administration on Monday to assist the delivery of fighter aircraft to Ukraine from Poland and other NATO and Eastern European countries.
“The Republic of Poland’s authorities…are prepared to deploy – instantly and without charge – all of their MIG-29 jets to the Rammstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America,” the ministry said.
“At the same time, Poland has requested that the United States give us with used aircraft with the necessary operating capability.” “Poland is ready to establish the terms of acquisition of the planes as soon as possible,” it added.
