Russia should begin regular container exports along the Northern Sea Route across its northern border from Vladivostok to St Petersburg next year, according to President Vladimir Putin.

As the Arctic heats faster than the rest of the world, Russia is investing in infrastructure to build the Northern Sea Route and hopes to make it a significant shipping path.

Putin was speaking in Vladivostok, Russia’s far east, at an economic event.
