Russian restrictions on British airlines are a retribution for the UK’s decision to prohibit Aeroflot flights from UK airports, according to Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.

Russia’s official civil aviation authority said on Friday that British airlines are no longer permitted to land at its airports or fly through its airspace.

“I believe this is their punishment for us barring Aeroflot from utilizing and landing in the United Kingdom yesterday.” Wallace told ITV’s Good Morning Britain, “That’s their tit for tat answer.”
