Russia reported 9,977 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, including 3,817 in Moscow, bringing the official national infection tally to 5,145,843.

The government COVID-19 task force also announced that 379 people had died of COVID-related causes over the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 124,496.

On Friday, the state statistics service, which keeps its own records, announced that nearly 270,000 people had died from the virus and related causes from April 2020 to April 2021.
