A Russian general revealed that he was relieved of his command position after informing the military leadership about the critical conditions at the Ukrainian front. He expressed that Russian soldiers had been betrayed by the incompetence of the top military officials, leading to severe consequences such as soldiers being left vulnerable.
Major General Ivan Popov, who commanded the 58th Combined Arms Army, said in a voice message published by a Russian lawmaker that he had been dismissed.
There was no immediate comment from the defense ministry and Reuters was unable to verify the authenticity of the voice message.
