The possibility of defusing the Middle East war was discussed with the Iranian ambassador in Moscow on Friday, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry continued, saying: “During an in-depth conversation, current issues on the regional agenda were discussed, with a focus on the situation in and around the Gaza Strip.”

Both parties acknowledged the need to “coordinate efforts to find effective ways to calm tensions in the Middle East.”
