According to official statistics, an average of 140,000 shots are being administered each day. Fifteen million shots are expected to be administered in the coming two months or about half the Kingdom’s population of 34 million.

The Health Ministry said 587 vaccination centers have been set up throughout the Kingdom and a total of 7,410,217 shots have been so far been administered.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom continues to register over a thousand new daily infections, figures not seen in the past eight months.

On Thursday, it confirmed 1,055 infections, taking the tally to 409,093, with critical cases reaching 1,182. It also reported 11 fatalities, raising the toll to 6,869, and 1,086 recoveries, taking the total to 392,448.

On Sunday, the Interior Ministry warned that authorities have detected a surge of “worrying” behaviors in the Kingdom since the beginning of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Authorities warned that the rising number of coronavirus cases could potentially lead to citywide lockdowns.
