Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held telephone talks on Monday with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on regional and international issues of interest.

They discussed the situation in Gaza and its surrounding areas and efforts exerted towards tackling its dangerous humanitarian repercussions.

Prince Faisal had met with Blinken in Washington on December 9.

He stressed to him the importance of taking immediate steps to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and exert all possible efforts to de-escalate the tensions and ensure that the conflict does not spill over into the region.

He also underlined the need to secure conditions that would pave the way for restoring stability and the peace process so that the Palestinian people can obtain their legitimate rights.
