The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers called for a halt to violence against civilians and authorities in Afghanistan on Wednesday, and urged the Afghan government to reinforce its position for the sake of stability.

This week, senior Afghan politicians are due to meet with Taliban commanders in Doha for discussions.

The SCO foreign ministers issued a statement calling for a strictly peaceful resolution.
