Tear gas fired at dozens of protesters in Sudan capital

According to a witness, Sudanese security forces fired tear gas at dozens of protesters manning barricades in the capital Khartoum on Thursday morning.

Witnesses said that police remained in large numbers in north Khartoum, where demonstrators continued to protest through the night.

The bloodiest crackdown on anti-coup protests since last month’s military takeover occurred on Wednesday.

According to medics, at least 15 demonstrators were killed in Wednesday’s protests, the majority of whom were killed in north Khartoum.
