Ten people from missing Japanese boat confirmed dead, according to a coast guard

The coast guard verified the deaths of ten individuals discovered so far from a Japanese tour boat that went missing off the country’s northern coast.

The boat went missing on Saturday while on a tour off the main northern island of Hokkaido, with 26 passengers on board.

The coast guard noted in a bulletin that seven of the ten were males and three were women.

On board, there were 24 passengers, two children, and two staff members.

Authorities were searching for the passengers and crew of the “Kazu I” utilizing aircraft and patrol boats, including seven ships, three airplanes, and four helicopters from the coast guard, after it got into problems near Shiretoko peninsula, which is known for its biodiversity and spectacular coastline.
