The execution of four democracy campaigners by Myanmar’s governing military on Monday prompted the U.S. State Department to declare that “business as usual” with the junta is not an option and to announce that it was considering taking additional legal action against it.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, State Department spokesperson Ned Price also called on countries to ban sales of military equipment to Myanmar as well as the ASEAN grouping to maintain precedent of barring junta representatives from regional meetings.
