UAE and Greece open quarantine-free travel corridor

A safe travel corridor between the UAE and Greece opened for fully vaccinated passengers to ease movement between the two countries.

Under the agreement, passengers holding vaccination certificates issued by health authorities can from May 18 travel between the UAE and Greece without having to quarantine on arrival.

Travellers still need to abide by any Covid-19 precautionary measures in place.

People wishing to benefit from the quarantine-free travel corridor will be required to show documents to prove they have been fully inoculated with a Covid-19 vaccine.

The agreement is the third one signed in May, after Bahrain and Serbia established safe travel corridors with the UAE.

Greece, which has a population of about 11 million, administered close to 3.2 million vaccines by the end of April.

Everyone over 60 should have had at least one dose by the end of May.

A gradual reopening of the country’s schools and non-essential shops is under way this month, with the tourist season officially due to begin on Friday, May 14.
