UK sends war crimes experts to Ukraine, reports Foreign Ministry Office

Britain said on Friday that it will deploy specialists to assist Ukraine in gathering evidence and prosecuting war crimes, with a team expected to arrive in Poland in early May.

Ukraine says it is examining 7,600 suspected war crimes and at least 500 people in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of its neighbor on February 24.

“Russia has instilled barbarism in Ukraine and perpetrated heinous atrocities, notably against women. British experience will assist in determining the truth and holding (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s administration accountable for its conduct “Liz Truss, Foreign Secretary, said.

The statement comes as Truss flies to The Hague to meet with the President of the International Criminal Court, Judge Piotr Hofmanski, and her Dutch colleague, Wopke Hoekstra.
