Russian forces assaulted an army base on a major thoroughfare in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, but the assault was repulsed, the Ukrainian military said early Saturday.
Separately, the Interfax Ukraine news agency said that Russian military were attempting to seize one of the city’s power plants.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had expected a midnight attack by Russian forces just hours before.
