Ukraine’s Zelenskiy says defence lines holding against Russian attacks

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in his latest video on Thursday that Ukraine’s defense lines were standing up against the Russian invasion, adding that Moscow’s shelling of Ukraine had continued since midnight.

“All we have to lose is our freedom,” Zelenskiy said, adding that Ukraine receives daily weaponry shipments from its foreign friends.

He said it had been two years since Ukraine had seen its first COVID-19 case: “Another virus attacked a week ago,” he said, referring to Russia’s invasion.

According to Zelenskiy, Russia’s shifting tactics and bombardment of civilians in cities demonstrated that Ukraine had resisted Moscow’s initial goal of claiming a rapid win by a land attack.
