The United Nations has warned against exposing millions of civilians to danger due to the escalation of the Houthi militia in Maarib, north-eastern Yemen, and its “possible repercussions on the humanitarian situation.
The Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief, Mark Lowcock, confirmed, on Tuesday, in tweets on his Twitter page, that the military attack “puts up to two million civilians in danger, and could cause the displacement of hundreds of thousands, which will lead to unimaginable humanitarian consequences.
Lowcock stressed that the time has come for now to calm down, not to multiply more misery for the Yemeni people, indicating that he will provide a briefing to the Security Council session next Thursday.
