US intelligence report: Taliban would “retreat” Afghan women’s rights

The Taliban “would roll back much” of the gains in Afghan women’s rights if the insurgents regain national power, according to an assessment released on Tuesday by top US intelligence analysts.

Those gains are probably due more to external pressure than domestic support, and likely will be at risk after the withdrawal by the US-led military coalition, said the assessment by the US National Intelligence Council.
