Washington provides humanitarian aid of $15m to the Palestinians

The US State Department announced the provision of $ 15 million in humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

A statement issued by the State Department indicated that the US Agency for International Development will provide these funds to meet the most urgent and life-saving humanitarian needs in the West Bank and Gaza.

Through this assistance, USAID supports Catholic Relief Services’ COVID-19 response efforts in health care facilities and affected communities facing food insecurity throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the statement said.

The statement emphasized that this assistance comes after the United States made an initial contribution of $ 2 billion to the Global Vaccine Alliance to support vaccination of people around the world through the advanced market commitment of the Kovacs Group.

The statement said that in mid-March, the Palestinian Authority received the first batch of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines through COFAS, which promised to provide 168,000 doses of AstraZeneca and 37,440 doses of Pfizer to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
