In response to Turkey’s criticism, Norway endorsed Finnish and Swedish proposals to join NATO on Saturday.

“We don’t know what Turkey actually means, but from (the) Norwegian standpoint, if Finland and Sweden decide to seek for NATO membership, we are 100 percent behind them,” Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeld said as she arrived in Berlin for a meeting with her NATO counterparts.

“This will also deepen Nordic cooperation because we decided differently after World War II, so I believe we are at a historic period right now,” she continued.

Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra agreed, saying it was critical for all NATO countries to show solidarity.
