WHO: African strain of Corona most infections

The World Health Organization has confirmed that the emerging corona virus that causes the disease “Covid-19”, which was discovered in December 2020 in South Africa, is more contagious compared to its predecessors. The technical director of the WHO emergency program, an expert in infectious diseases, Maria Van Kerkhove, said during a press conference held today, Thursday: “This strain is more contagious than the British. But it must be noted that it is possible to control the spread of infection while taking the necessary measures, including social distancing. Van Kerkhove added: “At the same time, we do not see any changes in the severity of the disease or cases of transferring the infected to the hospital. As for the effectiveness of vaccines (against the South African strain), studies are being conducted on this subject.”
