As part of its contingency planning for supply shocks, the European Union is assessing scenarios such as a complete shutdown of Russian gas supplies next winter, according to European Commission vice president Valdis Dombrovskis on Thursday.

“We are reassessing scenarios for partial and complete disruption of Russian gas laws next winter to assist member states in revising their gas supply contingency plans,” Dombrovskis told the European Parliament.
