In light of the Iranian escalation, Germany condemned Tehran’s actions, saying that it is playing with fire and does not seem to want to stop the escalation and

that the recent Iranian measures impede Washington’s return to the nuclear agreement.

“Iran’s recent steps threaten the United States’ return to the nuclear agreement” said Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. “The greater the pressure, the more difficult it will be to reach a political solution.”

He added :”The talks are very complicated at the moment, because it is clear that Iran is not seeking to stop the escalation, but this escalation is like playing with fire.”

This German position came today, in response to previous Iranian statements in which Tehran confirmed that it will prevent surprise inspections by the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency, starting within the coming days, if the other parties participating in the 2015 nuclear agreement do not fulfill their obligations.
