The Palestinian Authority confirmed, on Friday, that the Israeli Government agreed to vaccinate 100,000 Palestinian workers working inside Israel, as part of its COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Campaign, which is considered the fastest in the world.

In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Health indicated that “a meeting was held between the Palestinian and Israeli Ministries of Health to discuss limiting the spread of new strains of Covid”. “It was agreed to vaccinate 100,000 Palestinian workers operating in Israel”, the Ministry added.

The Ministry affirmed that both parties agreed on “technical cooperation to limit the spread of new strains of Covid.”

The Ministry did not specify the date of this Vaccination Campaign or the criteria regarding the selection of workers.

“Understanding that Israel and the Palestinians live in one area and that an outbreak of COVID-19 among the Palestinian Authority may also affect the infection rate among Israeli residents, senior ministry officials visited with the PA Health Ministry and received a briefing on the coronavirus situation in the PA, morbidity data and the epidemiological investigations that are taking place,” the Ministry affirmed in a statement.

Since December, Israel has provided doses of the Pfizer Vaccine to 4.25 million people, about 47% of its 9 million population, according to the latest Health Ministry figures.
