The head of the Association of Oil Importers, George Fayyad, said in a television interview that “the repercussions of lifting fuel subsidies are very great, and if the Bank of Lebanon decides to take such a step, there must be a solution for people, such as the financing card.”
He pointed out that “with lifting fuel subsidies, the sale will be based on the black market price, for example, the price of a tank of gasoline will be 260,000 pounds if the dollar exchange rate is 20,000 Lebanese pounds.”
