According to a draft proposal seen by Reuters, Germany will pay 83.3 billion euros ($83 billion), or 42% of a significant protection scheme introduced last month, to finance a cap on gas and power prices in 2023 in an effort to protect Europe’s top economy.

The numbers give a more detailed analysis of the 200 billion euro safety net that the German government has established through its economic stabilisation fund to lessen the burden on households and industry as a result of rising energy prices.
