Netflix: Users spent 812 million hours watching The Night Agent

For the first time, Netflix has disclosed viewer data for 99% of its catalog.

The political thriller, The Night Agent, emerged as the most-watched show globally in the first half of the year, accumulating 812 million hours of viewing.

The streaming giant, previously criticized for its lack of transparency, faced backlash during Hollywood strikes this year, prompting calls for higher royalties for successful shows on streaming platforms.

Co-chief executive Ted Sarandos acknowledged the past lack of transparency’s impact on trust within the creator community, noting that Netflix had initially kept viewer data private during its business development to maintain a competitive edge.

The company sees this move as a significant step forward for both Netflix and the industry, as stated in a blog post.
