Iran train derails after excavator collision, kills 13

According to the semi-official Fars news agency, thirteen persons were killed and 60 others were critically injured when a passenger train crashed in eastern Iran on Wednesday.

According to a railway official, the train traveling to Yazd collided with an excavator before sliding off the rails 50 kilometers (30 miles) from the city of Tabas, where it began its journey.

“Five ambulances are on the spot, and another 12 are on their way,” South Khorasan’s crisis management head informed the outlet.
