The Islamic State claimed responsibility for a fatal strike in the western Afghan city of Herat on Saturday, according to a statement on Telegram on Sunday.

According to police, at least six people were murdered when a bomb blasted through a minivan in the city. Since the Taliban seized power in August, there have been a slew of bombings and assaults across Afghanistan, some of which have been claimed by the Islamic State.
