The French presidency announced on Saturday that French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have begun talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the Ukraine conflict.

Macron said at a European Union summit on Friday that he and Scholz would call Putin again in the coming hours, following a previous three-way call on Thursday.
