Nigeria’s central bank governor has not decided on presidential bid

Nigerian Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele stated on Saturday that he has chosen not to run for president in February or for another elected office and will continue in his current position, despite calls for him to quit following allegations of his political ambitions.

After a spokeswoman for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) stated on Friday that Emefiele had purchased forms to run for the party’s presidential nomination this month, he responded on Twitter, “I have not made that choice.”

Emefiele stated that he would continue to serve as head of the central bank and would clarify his intentions in the coming days.
