Today, Turkey celebrates the 99th anniversary of the “Republic Day”, in which Turks commemorate the founding of the modern Turkish Republic on the ruins of the Ottoman Empire, which was announced on October 29, 1923, according to “Novosti News Agency”.

Many official and popular events are taking place throughout the country, by the official authorities and the government on the one hand, and by the Turkish opposition on the other.

The activities began with the visit of the state’s staff, led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the mausoleum of Ataturk known as “Anitkabir”, which is located on a hill overlooking the Turkish capital, Ankara.

During this visit, the Turkish President gave a brief speech, in which he affirmed, “Continuing to follow the founder’s path.”
