On Monday, talks between Russia and Ukraine began, and contact between the two sides is difficult but progressing, according to Ukrainian presidential adviser and negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak.

“The parties actively state their specified perspectives,” Podolyak said in a tweet accompanying a photo of the video conference talks. Communication is taking place, although it is difficult. Too many distinct political systems are to blame for the strife.”
