UN wants $41 billion to address surging aid needs in 2022

The United Nations said Thursday that it wants $41 billion to handle the world’s increasing assistance needs as the pandemic continues to flare and climate change and wars drive more people to the brink of hunger.

According to the United Nations’ humanitarian organization OCHA, 274 million people globally – one in every 29 – would require some type of emergency assistance next year, a 17 percent increase from 2021.
