A World Health Organization official said on Friday that 3.2 million children in Afghanistan are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition by the end of the year, with 1 million of them at danger of dying.

“It’s a tough battle as malnutrition grips the country,” Margaret Harris said by phone from Kabul to Geneva-based journalists. “The world cannot and must not turn its back on Afghanistan.”
