$121,000 the price of the first text message in the world

The first text message in history was sold yesterday for $121,000, at a public auction in Paris, the proceeds of which went to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The message was received on December 3, 1992 through the British telecom company “Vodafone” to a person named Richard Garvis, and it consisted of 15 letters that include the phrase
Merry Christmas.

This message was bought by a young Canadian man working in the field of new technologies, to become the exclusive owner of a unique digital copy of the communication protocol through which the world’s first SMS was sent.
