Beyoncé’s mum hits out at ‘racist’ skin lightening comments

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, defended her daughter against criticism of skin-lightening accusations after the singer’s appearance at the premiere of her Renaissance film.

Some social media users claimed Beyoncé looked “white” and accused her of skin-lightening. In an Instagram post, Tina Knowles labeled the comments as racist, “stupid,” “ignorant,” and “self-hating.”

She explained that the film’s theme was silver, and Beyoncé’s appearance reflected that, criticizing those who misinterpreted it. The post included a video montage of Beyoncé set to her song “Brown Skin Girl,” emphasizing her celebration of blackness.

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, expressed frustration in an Instagram post, receiving over 250,000 likes, defending her daughter against criticism of her appearance at the premiere of “Renaissance.”

Tina called out those attacking Beyoncé instead of celebrating her, highlighting Beyoncé’s positive contributions, including supporting black women and underdogs.

She acknowledged that Beyoncé might be annoyed with her post but expressed being “fed up” with the unwarranted criticism.
