Robert De Niro tells Gotham Awards his speech was edited without his knowledge

At the Gotham Awards in New York, actor Robert De Niro revealed that a speech he was reading had been edited without his knowledge, removing critical comments about Donald Trump.

Initially appearing confused, De Niro discovered the edits while reading from an autocue and then proceeded to read the original script from his phone.

The actor criticized the current state of truth and history, referencing controversial remarks by John Wayne about Native Americans.

De Niro expressed frustration with the editing, stating he did not feel like thanking the award organizers and Apple, which produced the film he was introducing.

The Gotham Awards marked the beginning of the film awards season, with winners including Past Lives and Anatomy of a Fall.
