It was noteworthy that the visit of the French presidential envoy, Jean-Yves Le Drian, concluded with a comprehensive meeting in the residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, Walid Al-Bukhari, which was predicted through some leaks to be the last attempt of the French mediator to make his endeavor successful, especially since the meeting brought together a number of representatives, a number of whom withdrew from it, which calls into question the real reasons for this withdrawal, because the justifications that those who withdrew limited to special reasons, especially in terms of the number of those withdrawing and their political tendencies, on an occasion related to a crisis of governance and a country.

Le Drian left Lebanon, ending his tour with a meeting with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, without announcing an imminent return, despite some data that spoke of a new round within days, after it was confirmed that he had not succeeded in making a settlement between the axis of resistance and the opposition.

A source following the French effort, which did not make any fundamental changes to its vision for the solution, considered that the French are now convinced that their approach was wrong for reasons not only related to the opposition’s insistence and rejection of the French proposals that are aligned with the axis of resistance in terms of insisting on dialogue, but also because some information indicates The Five-Year Committee has a number of observations that have accumulated towards the French approach of the Americans and the Arab countries, because what matters to them, according to the information, is reaching a stable solution to the Lebanese crisis at a minimum, not that the treatment be in ways that leave the crisis open and the differences to escalate, especially after they noticed that the opposition was determined to reject any settlements at the expense of principles related to the constitution, the law, or democracy, and this is what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sensed, and this is what prompted it to send clear signals based on strengthening the new trend in the Five-Year Committee, especially since the Kingdom considers any additional problem a threat to the national reconciliation, and therefore the charter has become part of the constitution, and there is a rejection of any attempt to undermine it or cause any defect in it, if the path today continues as it is in approaching the presidential elections according to the conditions of opposition that are detailed according to their interests, which It will lead to their complete hegemony and strengthen their control, and this matter will lead us to withhold any financial assistance that may be provided to Lebanon, and the same applies to the Americans, whose assistance will remain limited to the Lebanese army.

As for the atmosphere of the opposition, it believes that there is a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel without going into details, because some parties wished that they would give an opportunity to the efforts of the Five-Year Committee to enhance the path of solutions.
