The Macron administration has positioned itself as an incubator for the Gaullist public in Lebanon

French losses continue on the political and economic levels in a number of countries in the Middle East and in Africa, in which it achieved gains after lifting its mandate and continued to care for this country, as it was given custody of it and continues to care for it, in order to maintain a foothold in countries that store enormous wealth of energy resources, this is what prompted it not to sever ties with these countries in terms of political support.

What is happening today on the Lebanese scene in terms of the French presence shows the extent of its decline in influence, as its “word has become unheard” and no longer constitutes a guarantee for the Lebanese Republic, which has positioned itself to the right of the “Gaullists” and considers France a “caring mother.”

This golden age that Lebanese-French relations experienced, especially during the era of the presidency of the late French President Jacques Chirac, who carried Lebanon’s tragedies on his shoulders along with his friend, the martyr Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, seems to have ended, with the administration of President Emmanuel Macron insisting on prioritizing economic interests over historical relations, and thus eliminating all the gains it had accumulated since independence, with its insistence on following the approach of the axis of resistance and supporting it despite the sovereigns’ rejection of this path, at the beginning of the effort led by French presidential envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, who is still insisting on it, and even returned to support it clearly by emphasizing his country’s support for the call of the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, in addition to the attempt he made during his meeting with a number of change deputies to convince them of Berri’s initiative, but in return he was not able to make a breach at the level of the opposition, which seemed more stringent through a number of positions, especially the head of the “Kataeb Party,” who after his meeting with Le Drian appealed to “friendly countries to understand this reality and help Lebanon liberate itself from this reality,” while the head of the “Lebanese Forces Party” considered that “the current calls for dialogue are poison.”

Based on the data revealed about Le Drian’s meetings and the positions rejecting his initiative, which has not undergone any modification except for talking about the changes in terms of the names nominated for the presidential elections, but things seem to be at a standstill, and what has leaked is that Le Drian’s visit will not be the last, indicating that the Baabda chair will remain empty, but the Macron administration will not be able to lure the opposition under any name to reproduce a presidential term that would complete former President Michel Aoun’s path of dismantling the state and handing it over completely to Hezbollah and its axis.
