Tri-Druze meeting has nothing to do with the Jumblatti’s strategic considerations.

News about former MP Walid Jumblatt’s attempt to return to the Syrian arena, has been circulated abundantly through leaks and hints, pointing out that this switch in directions is due to the Mukhtara leader’s concerns, that international deals and agreements might bring back internal balances to pre-Syrian withdrawal era, in April 2005.

Some of these leaks were based on Jumblatt’s “tweets”, while other information hinted to his son Taimour’s secret visit to Syria. This was also linked to a visit paid by Representative Talal Arslan and former Minister Wiam Wahhab to the Syrian embassy, prior to Saturday’s meeting which might be a prelude to approximating distances Between Jumblatt and the Syrian regime

A source familiar with these meetings confirms that despite the differences and painful events that characterized the relationship between Jumblatt, Arslan and Wahhab,  tripartite meetings are occurring frequently, but it pointed out that this meeting has nothing to do with the Jumblatti’s strategic considerations, through which he wants to fortify the Druze arena and the general situation AL-Jabal. And thus, he will be paying multiple visits not to Druze references only, but to Christian and Muslim ones as well.

The source added that if Jumblatt wanted to reconsider relations with Syria, he wouldn’t have needed a mediation, as the Russian have already expressed their desire to help him improve his relations with Syrian parties, but this is not within his priorities, especially since Syria is overwhelmed with its concerns and Lebanon is slowly sinking into collapse.

Source familiar with  this meeting confirms that the current situation, especially with the presence of nearly two million Syrians and Palestinians, requires caution against the attempt of the Syrian regime (or others) of “using” these people, especially those who are still loyal to it, whose figures were shown during the elections which was accompanied by scuffles, after they provoked the hurt Lebanese who have lost loved ones during the Syrian occupation era.

Some circles say that the meeting held in Damascus, between Syria’s Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad and a delegation representing pro-Syrian parties, raised fears of a new Syrian approach towards Lebanon, based on new facts that were not taken into account. It continues, although the regime has lost control on vast areas of the country, and is now sharing the remaining part with more than one party, especially Russia and Iran, it still has the ability to scatter and frighten the Lebanese arena. But this will have “zero” results,  and will be like “a storm in a cup”, as Syria has to arrange its internal affairs before trying to restore “ old times” when it used to control all state’s institutions, and it can no longer rely on those whom the late Patriarch  Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir used to described as “agents” not “ friends”.
