Joint judicial-law meeting at Abboud’s office: Achieving justice done through independent and effective judicial authority!

A joint meeting was held today,  between the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Suhail Abboud, and the two members of the Judicial Council, the Discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Oueidat, the Head of the Judicial Inspection Commission, Judge Borkan Saad, the Beirut Bar Association Melhem Khalaf, the Secretary of Syndicate, Saad Al-Din Al-Khatib, and the President of the Bar in Beirut. Tripoli, Muhammad Al-Murad, and the Syndicate’s Secretary, Youssef Douaihy, at the President of the Supreme Judicial Council’s office, at Justice Palace in Beirut.

Achieving justice and securing the rights of litigants, the supreme goal of the judiciary, stressed the attendees in a statement.

The attendees also stressed that justice should be achieved through an independent and effective judicial authority, with a lawyers’ commitment to their obligations and oaths, and enjoying the guarantees and immunities of their profession.

The presidents of the Beirut and Tripoli Bar Syndicates affirmed the full respect of lawyers for the judiciary and judges and their keenness on the independence and prestige of the judicial authority. The judges also affirmed full respect for the legal profession and for lawyers working in accordance with the law regulating their profession in order to perform their role.

They agreed to form a committee comprising four judges on the one hand, and lawyers from the Beirut Syndicate and lawyers from the Tripoli Syndicate on the other hand.
