On Monday, the Kremlin said it was too early to gauge the West’s reaction to Russia’s suggestions for security assurances, but that information from “different sources” regarding a willingness to examine the ideas was good.
Moscow, which has alarmed the West with force buildups in Ukraine, released a wish list of security ideas it wants to negotiate last week, including a pledge from NATO to cease all military activities in Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Moscow has yet to get a substantial answer from the West on the requests.
