Hundreds of youngsters in a neighborhood in the Spanish city of Barcelona ride their bicycles to school every Friday, without fear of accidents, as the routes they use are blocked to traffic to safeguard the safety of kids as part of a scheme dubbed the Bicycle Bus.

Currently, about one hundred and forty children are participating in this project, accompanied by their parents, who also travel on bicycles, but they use two lines designated for them in the same area.

This activity is organized with the support of members of the Barcelona Municipal Police, who have placed a number of bicycles and motorcycles at the disposal of the project, which aims at encouraging a change towards active and sustainable mobility.
